Abstract

A portable storage container ( ) having a base shell ( ) and cover shell ( ) is disclosed. The shells ( ) and ( ) are planar and generally circular in shape with the exception of a spine ( ) spanning between and integrally joining the base and cover shells ( ) and ( ). Disc shaped recesses ( ) and ( ) in combination with tine type gripping components ( ) and ( ) grip a compact disc within each base and cover shell ( ) and ( ). A groove ( ) located equidistant between the centers of the shells ( ) and ( ) on the spine ( ) forms a live hinge. The cover shell ( ) may be bent towards the base shell ( ), encasing the compact discs held in the disc shaped recess ( ) and ( ) of the shells ( ) and ( ). A locking mechanism maintains the storage container in the closed position until opened by the user. Two tabs ( ) with apertures ( ) allow the storage container ( ) to be removably mounted in a ring binder. When the apertures ( ) are not in use, they may be bent back and stored on two cylindrical structures ( ) by a friction or a snap fit, protecting them from damage.
