Abstract
The image reader according to the present invention comprises a housing having substantially a box-shape and having an image reading surface contacting a document, a document detecting section provided to this image reading surface for detecting a document P, and an image reading section for reading an image on the document when the document P is detected by the document detecting section . This image reader enables improvement in convenience for users, operability, and adaptability for handling, and also it is small in size.
