Abstract
A method of making an optical component wherein an optical component carrier is introduced through an opening ( ) into a mold ( ). The carrier is aligned relative to the mold ( ) by means of at least one positioning means. A removable closure member ( ) is introduced into a coupling portion of the mold to form an optical window surface ( ). A light transmissive moldable material is filled into the mold ( ) and cured. The closure member ( ) is then removed to complete the optical component.
