Abstract
The invention relates to the organization of electronic messages ( ) coming in to a user who can access his/her messages via at least two different types of access environments ( ). A first storage area ( ) receives the electronic messages ( ), which each has an original data format. The electronic messages ( ) are then stored according to a first structure ( ). An agent ( ) processes the electronic messages ( ) into at least one set of processed electronic messages ( ) having data formats, which are at least as adapted to an alternative access environment as the data formats of the corresponding original electronic messages. The processed electronic messages ( ) are then stored according to at least one second structure ( ) that is a mapping of the first structure ( ). The user may either access an original electronic message ( ) in the first structure ( ) or one of the processed electronic messages ( ) in the at least one second structure ( ). The choice of message version is based on the type of access environment ( ) that the user currently has at his/her disposal.
