Abstract
The present invention provides compositions for stimulating an increase in islet proliferation and &bgr;-cell mass using an insulin homolog polypeptide. The present invention also includes methods for treating diabetes by stimulating islet proliferation and &bgr;-cell mass increases and affecting insulin levels.
