Abstract
An electrical connector has two major components: a frame and a transition element . The frame defines an exterior surface and a cavity for receiving a plug. Conductive strips cover a portion of the frame exterior surface, and each strip is connected to a contactor within the cavity. Ribs may extend from sidewalls of the frame for mounting on a PWB. A major surface of the PWB may contact the ribs and intersect a rear wall . The transition element has spring contactors corresponding to the strips. A stationary segment of each spring contactor is fixed to the PWB, and an opposing free segment contacts a strip when the frame and transition element are assembled in a device. The free segments are biased to maintain contact with the strips.
