Abstract
An apparatus for determining the position of a shift rail which is employed within a vehicle having a transmission . Apparatus includes an offset lever or member , and a pair of proximity sensors which detect the distance between the sensors and the respective surfaces of member , and which selectively generate signals corresponding to the measured distances. A controller receives the generated signals and utilizes the signals to determine the linear and angular position of shift rail
