Abstract

The invention describes a welding system with a welding device ( ) and a protective device ( ), in particular a protective shield ( ) for a user or welder. The protective device ( ) has an electrically controllable and/or adjustable protective visor ( ) with a control system ( ). The welding device ( ) or the welding system consists of at least one current source ( ), a welding torch ( ) and a control unit. The protective device ( ) has a transmitter and/or receiver unit ( ) which is connected to the control system ( ). The transmitter and/or receiver unit ( ) is connected to the welding system or the welding device ( ) or the welding torch ( ) via a connecting line ( ) or alternatively wirelessly and, when a start switch ( ) disposed on the welding torch ( ) or on the welding device ( ) is activated or when a start command is issued, the control unit or the welding torch ( ) sends a signal via the transmitter and/or receiver unit ( ) to the control system ( ) to darken the protective visor ( ).
