Abstract

An electrophoretic display has a matrix addressing structure which includes a first support structure on one side of the display and a second support structure substantially parallel to the said first support structure, on the other side of the display. On the inner surface of the first support structure there is a first set of parallel electrodes and on the facing the inner surface of the second support structure there are second and third sets of parallel electrodes arranged substantially orthogonal to the first set of electrodes The electrodes of the second and third sets are interspersed with one another.
