Abstract
Material processing apparatus ( ) is provided for the simultaneous production of different characterized final products using a single, initially processed product stream. The apparatus ( ) includes a barrel assembly ( ) having an elongated, tubular barrel ( ) with a flighted, axially rotatable screw ( ) within the barrel, and an additive incorporation assembly ( ) coupled with the barrel ( ) and having a plurality of individual mixing chambers ( ) configured to receive and process individual, separate streams of product from the barrel assembly ( ). Individual additive injectors ( ) are also provided for injection of additives such as colorants or the like into the respective product streams for mixing with the chambers ( ). Preferably, the assembly ( ) includes a flow divider ( ) having plural separate passageways ( ), which are in communication with the corresponding mixing chambers ( ). Each mixing chamber includes a tubular housing ( ) together with an internal, axially rotatable mixing member ( ). The mixing members are mounted on a common shaft ( ), the latter being connected to screw ( ).
