Abstract

A method for producing pyrone derivatives of the general formula (I), wherein X is halomethyl, whereby an acetoacetic acid derivative of the general formula (II), wherein X has the aforementioned meaning and X is chlorine or bromine, is treated with a Lewis acid and is subsequently converted into the desired product by means of water.
