Abstract
A MEMS micromirror optical switch is adapted to allow for easy testing either towards the end of the manufacturing process or during in-circuit operation. This is done by including additional micromirror arrays A test signal may be routed through the switching array using the test arrays without the need for disturbing optical fibers or any other signal interconnections. The enhanced optical switch may also be used for auto-discovery of connections through an optical node.
