Abstract

An alternating current driven type plasma display device includes a plurality of sustain electrodes having a spacing less than 5×10 m and a discharge gas in a discharge space where discharge takes place. The discharge gas consists of xenon gas alone having a pressure greater than or equal to 1.0×10 Pa and less than or equal to 3.0×10 Pa or the discharge gas consists of krypton gas alone having a pressure less than or equal to 6.6×10 Pa.
