Abstract
An illumination device includes a light guide which receives light from a light source at a light-receiving face and emits the light from a light-emitting face . A face opposite the light-receiving face of the light guide is formed as an inclined plane. The light which has reached the inclined plane reflects at an angle off the inclined plane . Therefore, the frequency in diffusion of the light increases. As a result, the luminance of the light emitted from the light-emitting face is improved. The luminance of a planar light can be made uniform by varying the shapes of diffusion patterns disposed on a diffusion sheet according to the distance from the inclined plane
