Abstract
An evaporative emission control system for an engine ( ) includes a fuel tank ( ), a pipe ( ) connecting the fuel tank and an engine intake passage, a canister ( ) which adsorbs fuel evaporating gas vaporized in the fuel tank, a purge valve ( ) provided between the intake passage and the canister, and a sensor ( ) which is provided between the purge valve and the fuel tank, and detects absolute pressure in the pipe. A controller ( ) sets the detected pressure before engine startup as an atmospheric pressure.
