Abstract
A rotor for an electric machine comprising a plurality of independent poles ( ) having a triangular cross section shape and permanent magnets ( ) having a trapezoidal cross section shape. The shapes of the independent poles and permanent magnets cooperate to improve the integrity of the lodgment of each permanent magnet.
