Abstract
A vehicle-straightening bench ( ) is utilized to apply pulling forces to a damaged vehicle chassis to restore the damaged chassis to an original configuration. The bench includes a vehicle platform ( ) with a carriage track ( ) having a plurality of carriage assemblies ( ) movably received by the carriage track ( ). Each carriage assembly ( ) supports a pulling assembly ( ) for applying the pulling forces. A trapezoidal carriage body ( ) of the carriage assembly ( ) rolls in the carriage track ( ), and the carriage assembly also includes a tower positioning mechanism ( ) to hold the pulling assemblies ( ) in place while the carriage body ( ) is are rolled on the track ( ). The carriage assembly ( ) also includes a locking mechanism ( ) to lock them in place during a vehicle a pull. A force arm ( ) is extended between the pulling mechanism ( ) and the platform ( ), so that the carriage assembly ( ) is not the only force transmission path between the pulling assembly ( ) and the bench ( ).
