Abstract
A mode switch ( ) for use in a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus such as a VTR as well as a signal processing method therefor, in which the mode switch uses a small number of terminals and is prevented from misdetection when noise occurs. If the logic of an output from the mode switch ( ) is checked, the output is determined based on an order preset for loading or unloading only if a predicted logic is obtained.
