Abstract
The sealed alkaline storage battery is provided with a closing lid having a safety vent unit which closes a gas release hole in a sealing plate, and a positive electrode cap which houses the safety vent unit in a compressed state between itself and the sealing plate. The safety vent unit is provided with a ventage plate which closes the gas release hole, and a spring which spring-loads the ventage plate towards the gas release hole and has a compressive load to length deformation ratio ≦5O N/mm.
