Abstract
A drive system for a utility vehicle ( ) containing a motor ( ) that is connected to and drives a hydraulic pump ( ) which, in turn, is connected to a hydraulic motor ( ). The hydraulic motor drives a ground engaging element through a gearbox having different selectable gears. A speed-adjustment device ( ) cooperates with the hydraulic pump ( ) and/or the hydraulic motor ( ) to adjust the rotational speed of the hydraulic motor ( ). In order to make available the full rotational speed range of the hydraulic motor ( ) in the lower gears while ensuring the observation of the maximum permissible speed in the highest gear, the invention provides a control device to limit the rotational speed of the hydraulic motor ( ) to a predetermined value if the highest gear(s) of the gearbox ( ) is selected.
