Abstract

A survey system ( ) is configured to identify radio stations ( ) to which tuners ( ) are tuned. The tuners ( ) have predetermined signals ( ) emitted therefrom. In one embodiment, the survey system ( ) employs a method ( ) which includes selecting one of the predetermined signals ( ), receiving at a receiver ( ) a second signal ( ), and determining that one of the tuners ( ) is tuned to one of the radio stations ( ) when a harmonic ( ) of the fundamental frequency ( ) of the predetermined signal ( ) is detected within the second signal ( ). In an alternative embodiment, the survey system ( ) employs a method ( ) that includes generating and broadcasting a survey signal ( ) that is a one of the predetermined signals ( ) modified to incorporate a signal identifier ( ). The method ( ) further includes detecting a harmonic ( ) of the fundamental frequency ( ) of the predetermined signal ( ) within a received second signal ( ) and determining that one of the tuners ( ) is tuned to one of the radio stations ( ) when the detected harmonic ( ) includes the signal identifier ( ).
