Abstract

A plastic thermostat housing having a vent passage including a valve portion ( ), a cap portion ( ), and an outlet portion ( ), with the cap portion ( ) being larger in cross sectional area than the cap, portion ( ). A check valve ( ) is inserted into the valve portion ( ) and a cap ( ) with a vent hole ( ) is inserted into the cap portion ( ) for retaining the check valve ( ) in the vent passage. The assembly is characterized by the plastic material of the housing ( ) being deformed into engagement with the cap ( ) for retaining the cap ( ) in the valve portion ( ) of the vent passage.
