Abstract

A coated substrate, such as thick, coated metal sheet is made using a system ( ) where a moving metal sheet substrate ( ), preferably aluminum over 0.1 mm thick contacts an applicator roll ( ) which has a non-deformable, micro-porous flat ceramic surface which is coated with a coating liquid ( ) which is picked up, by a metering roll ( ) and applied to the applicator roll ( ) by contact with the coated metering roll, and where a backup roll ( ) usually helps support the moving substrate.
