Abstract

A cover ( ) capable of opening/closing movement is attached to an opening of a card insertion part ( ). A detector ( ) for detecting opening/closing of cover detects whether the cover ( ) is in open position or in closed position. After detecting transition of the cover ( ) from open position to closed position, the detector ( ) for detecting opening/closing of cover outputs a reset signal ( B). After receipt of the signal ( B), a controller ( ) restarts a receiver ( ). After restarting, the controller ( ) determines whether a memory card ( ) is connected to a connector ( ) on the basis of a detection result ( ) from a card detector ( ). When it is determined that the memory card ( ) is connected to the connector ( ), the controller ( ) loads a program in the memory card ( ) into a RAM ( B). A copy of information ( ) in the memory card ( ) is made into a flash memory ( ) on the basis of the loaded program by the controller ( ). It is possible to provide an upgrading device capable of upgrading information in a memory easily without requiring deep background knowledge.
