Abstract

An electrical connector ( ) mounted on a daughter backplane circuit board is used to mate with a complementary connector ( ) mounted on the primary backplane circuit board. The connector ( ) includes a top housing ( ) and a bottom housing ( ) and inner circuit boards ( ) installed therebetween. Rows of paired signal contacts ( ) and grounding plates ( ) are arranged in an alternating sequence within the bottom housing ( ) to engage with the inner circuit boards ( ). Two projections ( ) extend out of edges of every inner circuit board ( ) so that the inner circuit board ( ) can be positioned after the projections ( ) are inserted into corresponding holes ( ) formed respectively in the top and bottom housing ( ) when the connector ( ) is assembled.
