Abstract

A tank body is formed in the shape of an elongated groove having an intermediate first slit disposed at its middle portion in the longitudinal direction and having a pair of end first slits disposed at its opposite ends. A reinforcement member is fitted in the first slit at the middle portion, and a pair of reinforcement side lids are fitted correspondingly in the pair of end first slits at opposite ends. The reinforcement member and the reinforcement side lids are formed with intermediate second slits and end second slits , respectively, which in cooperation serve to clamp the sidewalls of the tank body . The opening of the tank body is fitted to the groove-shaped tube plate such that their connections are joined together by brazing or other joining means.
