An apparatus and process for producing gaseous oxygen under elevated pressure utilize a distillation column system which has a high-pressure column ( ), a low-pressure column ( ) located above the high-pressure column ( ), and a side condenser ( ), which has a liquefaction space and a vaporization space, used to vaporize a liquid oxygen fraction from the low-pressure column ( ). The side condenser ( ) is located below the high-pressure column ( ).
