Abstract
An optical fiber link having a small residual dispersion fiber (SRDF) connected to a dispersion compensating fiber (DCF). The SRDF has a positive dispersion slope, and the DCF has a negative dispersion slope. The dispersion slope of the DCF is matched to the dispersion slope of the SRDF so that the DCF compensates the accumulated dispersion in the SRDF in the wavelength range between about 1530 nm to 1565 nm which represents the C-band of erbium doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA).
