Abstract
The present invention provides an improved feeling of flatness of a color cathode ray tube which facilitates the coating operation of a phosphor layer or enlarges an effective area of the phosphor layer. The effective area of the phosphor layer which is formed on an inner surface of a panel and has an approximately rectangular shape is formed in a pincushion shape. At end portions in a diagonal axis D direction of this pincushion-shaped phosphor layer , corner-portion peripheries C having a curvature R which are formed in a convex shape outwardly from the effective region are formed in corner regions which connect long-side peripheries sandwiching an X axis and short-side peripheries sandwiching a Y axis.
