Abstract

A pneumatic radial ply tire for use on aircraft has a radial reinforced carcass having at least one axially inner ply A, B, C and D of textile cords wound around a pair of bead cores . The improved bead structure has a flipper having an axially inner leg L and axially outer leg L . The ends L , L of the flippers are above the bead core height B and below the apex A of an elastomeric strip satisfying the relation B <L <0.7D and B <L <0.7D. Additionally, the tire carcass has at least one axially outer ply E, F of textile cords extending from bead to bead along the turn-ups A, B, C and D of the axially inner plies A, B, C and D. The plies are closely spaced along the natural ply path.
