Infrared radiation receivers ( ) of this invention include non-imaging optical concentrators ( ) having light exit surfaces ( ); a light sensor ( ) having a light entrance surface that is separated from the light exit surface by a small air gap ( ); and a soft, pliable, light transmissive medium ( ) inserted in the gap to reduce the light transmission loss across the gap.
