Abstract
Disclosed is a multi-layered plastic container ( ) that substantially enhances product drainage and reduces product residual levels trapped in the container, especially for viscous liquid products, including oil-in-water emulsions, water-in-oil emulsions, polymeric gels, foams, surfactant mixtures, dispersions, colloidal dispersions, suspensions, polymer solutions, polymer melts, and products like catsup, mustard, syrup, etc. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the plastic container is made by blow-molding an extruded parison having an outer polyolefin layer ( ), an intermediate adhesive layer ( ), and an inner product-contacting layer ( ) of a polyester material such as glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate. In another particularly preferred embodiment, the plastic container is extrusion blow-molded from a four-layer parison comprised of an outer polyolefin layer, an intermediate adhesive layer, an inner polyester layer, and a scrap or regrind layer comprised of a blend of these three layers recovered from the flash removed from the finished container.
