Abstract

In an automatic transmission for a motor vehicle which is controlled by an electronic transmission control device which continuously exchanges signals with a digital engine electronic system of an internal combustion engine, to reduce the thermal load on the automatic transmission in emergency operating mode, a transmission-independent program module (M ) of the digital engine electronics system presets an admissible maximum engine torque for the emergency operating mode (M_mot_max_not).
