Abstract

The present invention is directed towards novel compounds that are effective inhibitors of integrins, particularly &agr; &bgr; or &agr; integrins such as &agr; &bgr; and &agr; &bgr; . One embodiment of the present invention comprises a compound of formula (I) or formula (II) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate, or metabolic precursor thereof. R1, R2, R3, and R4 are defined herein.
