Abstract
High strength and high toughness aluminum alloy forgings having, as a whole, a strength at &sgr; of 315 N/mm or more and an impact shock value of 20 J/cm or more, wherein the aluminum alloy material contains Mg: 0.6-1.6%, Si: 0.8-1.8%, Cu: 0.1-1.0%, Fe: 0.30% or less, one or more of Mn: 0.15-0.6%, Cr: 0.1-0.2% and Zr: 0.1-0.2%, and the balance of Al and inevitable impurities, wherein the volume fraction of total constituents phase particles (Mg Si and Al—Fe—Si—(Mn, Cr, Zr) series intermetallic compounds) in the aluminum alloy structure in the forgings is 1.5% or less per unit area.
