Abstract
A novel self-blunting needle apparatus ( ) employs a blunting member ( ) and a needle ( ). The blunting member ( ) may be disposed within the needle ( ) and may be adapted for fluid flow therethrough. The needle ( ) may then be inserted into a patient's tissue and the blunting member ( ) may be extended to blunt the apparatus. In other embodiments, e.g., apparatus ( ), a driver ( ) may be employed to move the blunting member ( ) without obstructing fluid flow. There may be a locking spline ( ) and cam channel ( ) configuration to prevent backward motion of the blunting member ( ) in various embodiments. A hollow body ( ) is configured to facilitate assembly.
