Abstract
The invention relates to a flat gas discharge lamp having a discharge vessel and electrodes, the discharge vessel comprising a base plate ( ) and a top plate ( ) and having at least one spacer element ( ) between base plate ( ) and top plate ( ). Spacer elements usually disrupt the homogeneity of the luminance distribution on the top plate . In order to avoid this, the spacer elements ( ) are additionally configured as dielectrically impeded electrodes. For this purpose, each spacer element ( ) has an electrically conductive component ( ) connected to an electrode or current feed. As a result, the spacer elements ( ) are actively involved in the discharge and, consequently, in the production of light.
