Abstract

A PTO (power take off) sprocket driving belt or chain is attached to input shaft of a transversely mounted vehicle gearbox . The driving face of sprocket is outside casting ; its driven part is attached to sprocket by bolts , running in bearing in flanged spigot . Shaft is driven through sprocket by belt or chain . Decouplers may be fitted to wheel drive shafts, and to the PTO drive at . FIGS. , and show automatic and manual gearboxes mounted alongside engines; FIG. also shows marine jet drive , bevel gears , and Cardan shaft . FIG. shows in-line transmission . FIG. shows a sandwich PTO with manual gearbox and clutch assembly ; or automatic gearbox and torque converter . Applications are disclosed to semi-automatic, sequential shit automated manual, and CVT gearboxes.
