Abstract
A metal halide lamp has a ceramic discharge vessel with two ends ( ) which are closed off by sealing means which enclose a capillary tube ( ). An electrically conductive lead-through ( ) is passed in a vacuum-tight manner through a bore in the capillary tube ( ). The capillary tube ( ) comprises two sections ( ) which are arranged axially one behind the other, the diameter of the bore of the inner section amounting to at most 90% of the diameter of the bore in the outer section.
