Abstract
The invention relates to the use of surfactant mixtures, comprising (a) anionic and/or nonionic surfactants and (b) water soluble &bgr;-(1,3) glucans, which are substantially free of &bgr;-(1,6) links. Said mixtures are used to produce oral hygiene and dental hygiene products in particulars, toothpastes. The preparations are characterized in that the mucous membranes in the mouth have a particularly high degree of tolerability with regard thereto, by exhibiting exceptional foaming properties and a stable distribution of the abrasive substances.
