Abstract

A sieve filter for fluid lines, especially for hydraulic pressure lines ( ) in internal combustion engines which is formed of a hollow cylindrical main body ( ) with a fluid inlet ( ) and a fluid outlet ( ), and of a fine mesh filter element ( ) for through flow by fluid which has a bypass function when the filter element ( ) is stopped up or filtering highly viscous fluid. The sieve filter ( ) is biased by a spring element ( ), and is insertable together with the spring element ( ), between two axially spaced opposing surfaces ( ) inside the pressure line ( ) such that its fluid inlet ( ) and the spring element ( ) are prestressed against the opposing surfaces ( ), whereby the main body ( ) of the sieve filter ( ) closes a bypass fluid channel passing the filter element ( ) which is clearable through an axial displacement of the main body ( ) against the force of the spring element ( ) resulting from the rise of fluid pressure on the filter element.
