Abstract
A load sensor is provided with an elastic conductive tube , and a first electrode member and second electrode member separated by a distance in the longitudinal direction. The load sensor is further provided with an elongated insertion member to be inserted into the elastic conductive tube , and envelope members , which are provided at predetermined intervals in the longitudinal direction to enclose the insertion member , and together with the insertion member are inserted into the tube to separate the insertion member from the tube . When the tube is bent by the application of a load, the electrode members and contact the tube . The load is detected by determining whether the electrode members and have been rendered conductive via the tube . The sensitivity of the sensor can be easily controlled by adjusting the interval between envelope members and the thicknesses thereof.
