Abstract
The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising Factor VIII and the divalent metal ions Zn and Cu , optionally in the presence of Ca ions and/or Mn ions, wherein said Factor VIII is stable without the addition of albumin. The invention also relates to a method for the production of recombinant Factor VIII from mammalian cells carrying the gene therefor, comprising culturing said mammalian cells in medium free of plasma-derived protein and supplemented with divalent metal ions, including Cu and Zn , and optionally in the presence of Ca and Mn ions.
