Abstract

A data device ( ) for a motor vehicle is proposed which has a database ( ), a GPS receiver ( ), and a display ( ). In the database ( ), place data sets with at least the place name and geographical data are stored in memory. The current position of the motor vehicle can be determined by the GPS receiver. A place data set is selected whose name is shown on the display ( ). From the current position of the motor vehicle and the geographical data of the data set selected, further data are generated and shown on the display ( ).
