Abstract
Provided are isolated antibodies or fragments thereof which bind a peptide consisting of residues Leu -Phe -Lys -Gly -Gln -Gly -Cys -Pro -Ser -Thr -His -Val -Leu -Leu -Thr -His -Thr -Ile -Ser -Arg -Ile (peptide 304) of mature human TNF-&agr;. The antibodies and fragments thereof may be used to identify antibodies capable of binding in the region of mature human TNF-&agr; of amino acid resides 63-83. Antibodies or fragments thereof which bind particular regions of mature human TNF-&agr; are shown to elicit particular biological activities dependent upon the particular region wherein binding occurs.
