Abstract

An improved dump valve assembly ( ) is provided for use as a part of an elongated, sectionalized, tubular downhole pipe string ( ). The assembly ( ) includes a tubular pipe section ( ) having endmost threading ( ) and a rupture disc fitting ( ); the fitting ( ) includes a metallic, preferably concavo-convex disc ( ) with performed lines of weakness ( ) on one face thereof. The section ( ) is interconnected between a pair of lower pipe sections ( ). In operation when it is desired to elevate the string ( ) from the well, the fluid within the string ( ) is pressurized sufficiently to rupture the disc ( ), thereby allowing fluid within the string ( ) to drain. The string ( ) and other well components can then be removed from the well without contamination owing to spillage from the tubular string ( ).
