Abstract

A serpentine, slit fin ( ) is provided for a heat sink device ( ) used for cooling a electronic component ( ) having a surface ( ) that rejects heat. The heat sink ( ) includes a plate ( ) having first and second surfaces ( ), with the first surface ( ) configured to receive heat from the surface ( ) of the electronic component ( ). The fin ( ) is bonded to the second surface and includes a plurality of offset sidewall portions ( ). In one form, a fan ( ) is spaced above the second surface ( ) to direct an impingement airflow ( ) towards the second surface ( ) substantially perpendicular to the second surface ( ), and the serpentine, slit fin ( ) underlies the fan ( ) and is bonded to the second surface ( ).
