Abstract

A method and system for choosing the control processor for booting a multiprocessor system ( ) in accordance with a memory ( ). A computer system ( ) includes a plurality of computer processors ( ). The processors ( ) use a memory bus ( ) to communicate with the main memory ( ). A second bus ( ) connects the processors ( ) to an interupt controller ( ). The second bus ( ) includes multiple bus request lines ( ). An initialization control circuit ( ) also communicates with the second bus ( ). Memory ( ) in the initialization control circuit ( ) holds data identifying at least one of the processors ( ) and when power is first provided to the system, the initialization control circuit ( ) operates to assert signals on the bus request lines ( ) such that the identified processor initializes the computer system.
