A pneunatic radial ply tire ( ) having a tread ( ), a carcass structure ( ) and a belt structure ( ) has an electrically conductive and electrically continuous single-turn hoop ( ) disposed about the circumference of the tire. The hoop might be provided as a coupling element in a transponder and interrogator system and in some designs as a structural element of the tire.
