To measure a difference in potential ( ), the ECG electrode structure comprises a first measurement electrode ( ) arranged to be in contact with an area of the skin ( ) on a user's body such that, when in use, the electrode is electrically insulted ( ) from the water ( ), and a second measurement electrode ( ). When in use, the second measurement electrode ( ) is arranged to be in contact only with the water ( ), the second measurement electrode ( ) thus being in contact through the water with an area of the person's body other than the area under the first measurement electrode ( ).
